I reload 9mm, using lead, for around $6/100, where FMJ will put it just over 7. I started more for the .45, and that was when it was more expensive to buy than it is now. It is true, in the long run you don't save much since you end up shooting more. Nice problem to have.
I don't tell people to go slow, unless they want to. I have them come over and try both a progressive and a single stage, and get their feet wet. Most often, if they do decide to get a setup it is a progressive. -Bidah |

another question is,,,, how would a reload offer more accuracy at 10-15 yds?

The process for charging powder when reloading tends to be more accurate than high speed commercial machines. If you use quality equipment. I use a Lee turret press without auto-indexing to do everything one step at a time. Easier and faster to switch dies, just manually rotate to the next die for each step after running all rounds through each step. I also use a Lyman powder dump setup on it's own stand to drop and verify each powder level. I do everything I can to not blow my guns up. Of course you could get even more accurate with a powder trickler or a digital powder dump. The main advantage as far as accuracy goes is consistency, choice of best components, and tailor made rounds that work best in your particular gun.

I can get good quality 115gr-147gr 9mm for about $100-$150 per 1000. I can use all of the brass left over to reload with better bullets and usually better powders for around $75. Then I still pick up all the brass from other people on the range that do not reload, as well as gunshow finds of once fired brass, pre-primed new brass, and many other "deals" to reduce the cost of my reloading and shooting. If you want something you will find ways to get it!

As The Knight said, getting bulk ammo is a good way to get brass.
Winchester white box is good for getting brass, you get to shoot and end up with quality brass afterwards. I also get brass off ebay. Normally around $20 per 1000 with shipping. I have gotten it as low as $30 with shipping per 2000. |

http://www.ohiouspsa.com/calculator_...c_calcs/rc.php Now you guys that are picking up brass for free reloading 9mm is almost like cheating!!

I dont think reloading 9mm is worth it. Iconsidered it because I shoot 300 rnds a month. I can get ammo from a local outfit 500 rounds for $60. Cant beat that reloading.
