Problems With WWB?
Anyone having problems with Winchester white box (180 gr FMJ) target ammo? I've heard of a few cases where the stuff fails to feed. Haven't had this problem, but I've been using Remington the last few times out (got a good deal at the gun show and bought more than I usually do).

I use WWB regularly at the range and through around 600 rounds I have not had any problems.

I heard, from a super reliable source, that Winchester has two plants. One is in the US and one overseas (not sure where). The US ammo is fine - very little on the issue scale. The stuff coming in is junk - QC is the pits. They had major issues with it at a shoot - all guns (Springfields and others) failed to feed properly on the imported ammo. I didn't get the caliber, but I know we were talking about .40 and 9 mm, so I'm assuming these are impacted. I also heard something about 1911's so maybe 45 is included in this.
If you're shooting WWB and it's feeding OK, check the box. If it's marked "Made In USA", that could be the reason. If it's misfeeding/stovepiping/etc., you might find it's not the fault of the pistol if the box says something else....

I had my one and only problem ever with WWB, and it was a FTE. Come to find out though, my extractor had some gunk caked on it that I needed to clean out with a needle. It wasn't allowing it to grasp the casing well enough to spit it out.

WWB has a very weak charge and sometimes fails to eject from my XD. It doesn't always rack the slide with authority and the spent casing gets caught like so:

I've got 10,000 rounds of WWB though my XD -9 Service and had only 1 jam the whole time.

But I don't find the WWB .45acp 230gr FMJ Ammo. to be under powered.

I anticipated that response. It was only a matter of time... |
