Black Hills Ammo is not cheap. But it is some of the best commercial ammo out there. I shoot it on the AR platform. Great stuff, but not for plinking.

Their regular "target" type ammo is not that expensive. However go to their Mk 262 Mod 1 and expect more cost. The Mk 262 is some of the best defensive AR ammo out.

I use Black Hills ammo at matches, because it groups much better than target ammo at Walmart. I get about 2.5-3" at 100 yards on a 16" platform, completely open sight with Black Hills. Other ammo and I would get anywhere from 3-6 (like WWB).

I haven't really seen a detailed comparison of performance differences between Black Hills blue box ("reman") and red box, although there is a noticeable difference in price. One key note when comparing rifle rounds: Black Hills typically packages in boxes of 50, whereas many of the other manufacturers package in boxes of 20.
