What's the word about MAGTECH?

I just bought some MAGTECH Guardian Gold 9mm Luger 124gr JHP at a gun show Saturday. Anybody know the word about this stuff? Hear anything good or bad about it? I just bought my first XD about 2 weeks ago (9mm Service) and wanted to get a box of SD ammo. I admit the packaging and bullet design caught my eye and I bought it without knowing much about it. That's not a good reason to buy ammo for SD but it was $12 for a box of 20 so I did it anyway. I'd appreciate if anybody has some info or experiences with this ammo they might want to share. Thanks. Bob

Not my favorite brand, but I've had not trouble with the thousand or so Magtech's that I've run thru my XD's.
Granted, that's the target ammo..........

I got a boatload of Magtech FMJ 9mms (I think 115gr) that were crap: they flashiest, dirtiest, most inaccurate ammo I've ever seen. Luckily, it was all free, but I still couldn't wait til I ran out.

I'm finding out my own XD will digest anything I feed it. I've tried several factory loads and about 6 handloads (topped with HP, Conical, FMJ) the two weeks I've owned it, and all without a hiccup. It took some extra work for my 1911 to handle more than just ball, but the XD is doing it right out of the box.

I am very sorry to hear that I have had nothing but happiness and luck with this stuff!. Very accurate out of my XD9tac.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't shot the stuff I bought yet, I hope it's better than your experience, but I should probably stick to the well known and proven ammo for SD. Bob

That's good to hear. The only Magtech I have is the self-defense load and I haven't shot it yet. If they have target ammo too, I may try it if the SD shoots good.

Well, it wasn't Guardian Gold so I'm comparing my (sour) apples to your oranges. It was 50 rounds for $6.99 at Cabelas and I had a $100 gift certificate. Don't have any boxes around to see exactly what they were, except I can say the boxes were dark blue.

I surely would NOT use it for self defense as other have, but I bought 4000 rounds (4 cases $119.00/ea) and have not had any issues with it. My Wilson Combat CQB does not like it, but all other 45's eat it with not problem. I sold 2 cases to my Brother in law. It is not as clean as WWB (marginally), but it's leaps and bounds better than Ultramax.

It is great ammo for practicing (Range time drills) and maybe competition, but with my Brther in law Chrono we saw an avg of 279 ft/sec differnce in 10 rounds. No Kabooms and fairly accurate.

That's the standard 115gr right? It is the same stuff I have been using in competition.
