New XD 45 ACP

Hi all,

Still learning about the gun and searching for ammo. I've been to the range once with some FMJ 230g ammo and it was OK, the Federal SD JHP 230g was much better though.

I noticed looking at a site selling 45 ACP that the ammo has a +P after it - what's that stand for?

Also, my new XD is for the range and to keep my family safe (or at least give us a fighting chance) should the wolf come knocking on the door. So my train of thought is the more lead downrange the better - am I correct? I see my home defense ammo in 165g also and wonder if there's a significant enough of a difference to warrant a change.

+P means higher than SAAMI spec pressure.

45s were made for 230 grain, go with it.
