9mm Ammo to Avoid
I'm looking to purchase some bulk ammo and wanted to know what brands and types of ammo to avoid. I found some bulk MFS ammo but noticed it has steel instead of brass cases. Is this something i should avoid?
Any know manufacturers that we should avoid with the XDM 9mm and range shooting?
Thanks,
Ray

Personally haven't found anything that an XDm 9mm won't shoot. Even tried limp wristing mine into a malfunction, and couldn't do it.

I found Tula to be very dirty... At lease the batch that I got... No issues with them going bad, but I won't get them again....

I like Mag-Tech if you can find it. Shot 500 rnds 9mm FMJ through my XMD9 and not a single misfire. Reasonable price; quality. Fiocchi is a bit more expensive but not too high, and quality as well. I use these for my range shooting. I'd spend more for a self-defense load. Agree with others - haven't found anything that an XDM won't shoot.

My XD9 Service shoots the Tula ammo just fine, but the stuff leaves both my hands and the pistol absolutely filthy in fairly short order - the barrel not so much, but the area around the feed ramp looks like it's coated in coal after a couple boxes. No stoppages after 4 boxes in an IDPA match, but when I'm practicing at the range I run a BoreSnake through there every couple boxes just in case.
Also, the Tula seems to have a much sharper recoil impulse than just about anything else I've shot. I put two boxes of my current defense load (Winchester PDX-1 +P JHP) through the gun, and even that didn't feel as "snappy" as the Tula to me.

Thanks all, I'm still looking to find some bulk ammo that is not backordered!
I have also been told to stay away from steel and aluminum rounds...why?

The only ammo I'd avoid is American Ammo, but that's because their .223 ammo is notorious for failures. I can't speak to the reliability of their 9mm, but for the price difference you're not saving much.
I've put the cheapest combloc ammo through my XD I could find. I found 25 round packages of some former soviet union bloc country ammo for $2 a package a while back and it ate it up. I also put some 1930s 9mm through it and it fed it fine.

I've shot more steel cased ammo than brass through my XD.
The only thing I don't like about the steel is you can't reload them.
I don't mind dirty ammo, I enjoy cleaning my firearms.

I just picked up a box of 400 reloads today. Have shot them before and they seem pretty clean.
