I like living here, it's a tactical nieghborhood. We have even had SWAT teams here hiding in yards (prone in the bushes) and turning out porch lights during thier sweep search for the BGs.

FMJ is fine just no armor piercing stuff. Try to keep your steel farther than 10-15 yards out. Remember steel can shoot back, and never use shotgun slugs on steel. They have different properties when it comes to hitting steel.

We trained with slugs on pepper poppers, never had an issue. Make sure your target can swing and they last a lot longer.

It depends on the plates, but most plates will not stand up too long to 12 guage slugs.
a 12ga slug will leave a nice 1 inch round indentation in the plate. Yeh you can probably hit them a bunch of times and it won't go through but you will have one seriously deformed plate.
say no to slugs on steel. use bird shot or target loads.
all handgun rounds are fine (amend, MOST handgun rounds are fine, I wouldn't use anything super high powered like a 50 AE, won't go through, but it might dent it, don't know never tried)

I have shot a lot of steel, FMJ, HP, lead, it all works fine..
never get any closer than 7 yards to your target when shooting steel.

Just make sure the plates are AR-500 steel and you can't go wrong. I tag mine regularly with a .300 Win Mag and they are still in good shape
