NJ has restriections on carrying and using hollow nose bullets.

http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/fire_hollow.html

They even restrict them for retired LEO's

He's right they are illegal.
However I bought 150gr J.H.P.Bullets At the store that i get most of my reloading supplies from and shot them at the range with a couple LEO buddies of mine and they didn't have a prob.
There are tons of stores in Jersey that sell J.H.P. home defence rounds so I don't know that it is actually enforced.

Considering that NJ is a state that requires a "Firearms License" to buy a Daisy Red Rider BB Gun, that doesn't suprise me one bit.

Middlesex County...

Plainsboro Township: 5 weeks for a Permit to Purchase, already had FID Card. Was the same for FID card a few years ago.

I'd say 25-30 years ago, my Dad had to get his FID card to buy me a Crosman air rifle.

Just recently, I had to give my name and address for an AIRSOFT rifle! I had heard the Office of Attorney General and the NJSP were looking into FID cards needed for AIRSOFT purchases.

I guess they state is protecting us: we might shoot our eye out...

That's why it's called the 'Garden State'; the state government and leaders are all about as bright as potted plants.
