brass vs nickel cases?
UP to now all the brass I find/buy has been 99% brass. Been doing 9mm only. I just toss the nickel into a can for 'later'.
Bought 1000 38sp brass and it's perhaps 40% nickel. A few guys at the range I've shot with have nickel/brass mixed in their 38 reloads (low power wadcutter for PPC).
I know for max accuracy that you can sort by headstamp and even trim to length but most don't for pistol.
So any good reason not to mix brass/nickel in 38?

load them and have fun.my dad has loaded many 38sp with both and has never had a problem.the only real difference would be a moister thing.the nickel holds up better than the brass when carrying around in hot weather.it all so shows up better in an auto when checking for a round in the pipe in low light.have funn load away.

This.
I do, however, love how the nickel-plated brass goes into the sizer die. Slicker than snot.

I've heard that as well, but have never experienced any cracking issues that were more common than non-plated. This includes 9mm, .38, .357, and .45.

Yeah me either, but I have also only reloaded them once.
I wish they sold HST's in bullets only so i can make some of my own SD loads in the nickel cases.

I used mix brass for all my handgun stuff. Yes, is more brittle than brass & you'll lose them to mouth splits sooner than brass.

They are nice going through the sizing die. I have a bunch that I have reloaded several times in .45 without a hitch. This is for the nickel.

In pistol rounds, I mix and load.
In rifle rounds, Im a bit pickier.
Brass vs. Nickle, I have had more neck splits with nickle than with brass. I dont know if its just poor annealing on the nickle or what.

When I loaded .45 I used to sort brass and nickle, but only because I would save the nickel for loading SD rounds and they are a little slicker and smooth operating.
