Not much other than a bit more recoil spring weight. The longslide will make a great 45 Super platform with it's added slide mass.

I'd probably start with a spring around 20 lbs, buy a box of Underwood Supers, and see how she runs. Lots of 1911 guys put in stouter mainsprings and firing pin stops with less radius on the bottom to delay unlocking, but that will be less of an issue with your LS.

I agree. A heavier spring would help definitely. The only problem I had was the concussion at the local indoor range was blowing the overhead flourescent lites out. The owner, (who is a good friend of mine) asked me not to shoot it there anymore. Therefore, I shoot it at the outdoor range only. LOL. Good luck with yours. It is a neat caliber. WG

An investment in Starline 45 Super Brass might also be recommended as they are heavier in the web area of the case and less prone to blowouts. But hey... you probably already knew that.

I've fired some .45 Supers and .450smc through a Glock 21, using a threaded, compensated barrel. The compensator mitigates the recoil and muzzle flip very well. I have no practical use for .45 Supers, as I'm of the opinion that they're terrible for s.d. and I don't hunt with my handguns. If I did hunt with one of my Glocks, it'd probably be my G20.

I was just looking at some 45 smc. I have the 4 inch XD therefore, no recoil spring options. I also have the XDS, but I don't think that's my goal.

Thoughts on my 4 inch?
