9mm NATO WWB 1000 rds, $100!!!
Just got back from our local indoor range, The Bullet Hole in Shawnee, and they got a whole shootload of WWB 9mm NATO ammo in that they said was some type of military overrun, and they're selling it for the same price as their 1000 rd. boxes of regular WWB 115gr. FMJ--that is, $100/1000 rds!!!
A great price for some great range ammo, in my estimation. BUT! My question is this--how many of you guys would be a little hesitant about shooting the heavier NATO load as your regular range ammo??? I'm not so concerned about "breaking" my XD as I am wearing it out faster. What do you guys think? |

I would stay away from it. NATO ammo is
not manufactured to SAMMI specs, it runs at a much higher pressure. But if you own anything in Class III, then go for it!! thats a good price. Ed |

I've shot the "whitebox" NATO before, honestly it wasn't any different than shooting those awful flippy 115s that everyone uses. Was a pain to cull that damned NATO brass out for reloading too!
More than likely, XDs over seas being used in military and police have probably already seen their share of this ammo and we'd be hearing something about it if there were XDs or HS2000 pistols blowing up/apart because of NATO ammo.

If you are familiar with power factors used in USPSA, WWB PF was 135 while the NATO PF was 154.

The USPSA power factor is not something I am highly familiar with, but from what I have read, even at the higher rating, it would not move this ammo/gun into the "major" category, which seems to suggest that there is nothing overpowering about the ammo.
The more I read about the whole "+p" and "+p+" and so on debate, the more I come to the conclusion that it's really a lot of mental masturbation. What I mean is, the XD is manufactured to be a potential military/police weapon, and therefore more than likely has relatively sturdy tolerances--at least one would expect. Also, the longer the gun is on the market and being used/shot, and the more time that passes without any kind of issues relating to using heavier loads arising, the more it seems that such worries are really in the category of negligible, wouldn't you agree? |

Hmm...if I had that Hi-Point carbine that I was looking for at the gunshow, I'd be all over that.

Well, if you're concerned about the XD's ability to shoot NATO 9mm, then there's always Glocks...they're designed to shoot NATO 9mm. (Well, obviously, they 9mm are.
