Where are you paying $50/K for primers????? I am sure you mean $30/K fo rthe CCI/Win. I just bought 1K Tula to try in my AR, I'll report next month, but several guys I know swear by Tula/Wolf rifle primers for their match loads. I will NOT buy small pistol, have seen too many problems w/ Wolf to trust the Tula there, but throw down a $20 & give them a try.

I bought a thousand and started loading 9mm with them but haven't got to shoot any of the reloads yet. Hopefully here in a week or two.

Fred, I should clarify.... on 5k primers. Powder Valley has Win/CCI at $26/K
$6 x 5k = $30
'Course I need to team up with some locals for a bulk order to cover the hazmat. Let me know what you think of them after you choot them AR boolits!

I figured something like that. You can spread HM around a bit by ordering powder. For me, 10 units is the min for a mail order. That is 1# of pwoder or 1K priemrs being 1 unit. That spreads the HM around to $2.70/unit. At that rate, I still save about 20% over buying local & the shipping easily covers the ugly sales tax.

I don't think primers and powder can be shipped together. Do you know whether the HM fee is per order or per each package with HM?
Right now I have 100 CCI primers and 1 lb of W748 to go under 55gr Sierra HPBT bullets. As long as the Tula primers ignite properly, I can save some $ by going with them. I noticed on the PV site that there is Tula Small Rifle and 223 primers. Both $20/k. Any difference there?

You sure can. I've had both shipped together every time I've ordered. I've used tula in small rifle mag, large pistol, small pistol, and small pistol magnum, all with great accuracy and zero duds.
Small rifle primers are standard where the .223 primers are more of a magnum primer with harder cups for auto loaders. I use the .223 primers myself.

Thanks I67, PV verified that they can ship together. So you'd recommend the 223 primers? My AR is off the shelf with no mods except a RRA trigger replacement.

It depends on where you order form Midway ships separate, two HM fees. PV, Graf's, others ship all together, I think 50# limit, for one HM fee.
As to primers for the AR, just stay away from Federal & they should all work fine. I have been good w/ CCI, Win & Wolf so far.

Yes the .223 primers will be perfect for your auto. Plus they'll give you about 40 more fps compared to standard small rifle primers. They compare to the cci #41's.
