The only guys I regularly see shooting carry loads are some of my LEO buddies. My dad used to bring home cases of WSTHP to "practice" with, same for my retired MST friend & his 357sig & SGDHP. For us common folks, most shoot reloaded ammo or cheap factory for practice. It allows me to shoot 150-200rd/ wk & get some good practice in. The only time I do shoot my carry ammo is the rounds I have removed from carry because they started setting back a bit. Otherwise it's equiv recoil handloads using lead bullets.

We were at a steel shoot the Border Patrol put on a few weeks ago when on of the BP shooters starts bragging he's shooting Remington Golden Sabres in his gun.
All the others were shooting what ever BP give them for practice, I think it was HiShok.

I can't see using "super bullets".just give me 185 grain 45 and I'm happy. And the reason for shooting it it it does feel and shoot different than 230 hardball.

never carry reloads if you do get in a shooting the courts will tear you up for your killer reloads, nothing can be said about factory loads.

Nobody said anything about carting reloads. Practice with reloads.

I don't carry handloads, but your statement just isn't true. Search it, been talked about for years. I carry good factory because the best bullets are in factory loads & I can't really make a better round. I can also articulate why I would have handloaded ammo vs factory, that would be the key in a civil court case. The criminal case won't matter, It's either a good shoot or not.

Cough Cough {bullsnit} cough cough.
As stated, there has NEVER been a case where a "good shoot" was contaminated by the use of reloads. EVER.

In a civil case though, good shoot or not, won't matter as much. It only takes a majority of the jury to find you guilty of willful negligence or some other such charge. Why risk it, you really can't reload better rounds than the best factory stuff.

Premium SD ammo is made with, well, premium components. Like low flash powders to preserve night vision etc, coated cases to prevent corrosion. It will cost a little more, true. Personally I find it acceptable to pay for a little extra piece of mind.

Look at some of the recent posts about premium ammo, some really bad stuff is being shipped!
I trust my reloads more then any factory rounds.
