What am I doing wrong?

Loaded up 6 different loads in 45acp.

All 185gr JHP, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 with Clays.

185gr JHP with 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 with Titegroup.

The 4.1 Clays shot the best but would not cycle properly. The next step up was far to the left and the next way low and everywhere.

Titegroup just did not perform as well, seemed all were low and scattered. Is it me and the way I'm aiming or the loads.

Kind of hard to diagnose w/o actually watching you shoot. You have chosen tow of the worst powder fo rrelaoding IMO, but that is another thread. How do you shoot w/ fatory ammo? What distance? Even really crappy ammo in a good gun & shooter will make a ragged 1" hole @ 21ft. Now POI, lots of thing can affect that.

Yeah, after posting got to really thinking it's me on most of those groups. Picked up these powders at a good price had to try them out. Going to keep the Clays close to Min. charge, 4.2 and 4.3.

Right now shooting 25yards (75') at public range. The Clays shot Ok, will try some more testing with more details next time. Seen some where Titegroup performed well in 45acp, but maybe not. Next order going to get some W231.

Since I'm using Titegroup, what is it you don't like? I've never used anything else for pistol powder and have had excellent results. In a continuing effort to expand my knowledge, I look forward to hearing your opinion about this powder.

PM me if you prefer to keep this subject off this thread.

Thanks!

I too have had excellent results with TG,my baer will consistantly group 185 gr loads in 11/2 to 2 " at 25yrds offhand semi slow fire and will keep all shots in the a zone from 10yds out to 25 yds no problem at speed.

You could search this but my issues w/ TG:
Burns hot, high nitro content, sucks w/ lead bullets.
Very small volume per charge wt, so hard to visually verify in larger cases
Steep pressure curve, as are all uberfast powders. Not a good combo w/ small volume/high pressure rounds. I like a powder that fills the case about half full, easily varifying powder drops. I want a powder that delivers the vel I want w/o running the top edge of pressures. I want a powder that burns clean & cool. None of those can be attributed to TG. There are better choices IMO, but gunshops push it because they buy a lot of it.

Try WW231. Been having good luck with this one in .45ACP and 9mm.

Thanks once again. Bought some lead bullets also to try out. Seems like cartridges shoot better on the high side. Do 45acp ( as a rule) shoot better low, med or high Vel.

Depends on the bullet & powder. I have some lead bullet minor loads running 700fps w/ a medium hard alloy 200gr lead bullet that will shoot under 2" @ 25yds all day. The same bullet running major @ 850fps shoots the same.
