Attention Gamers: I need a 45ACP load!

For those who shoot IDPA or USPSA, I am looking for a reliable load to shoot from my XD45ACP and my 1911 Single Stack. I am a fan of TiteGroup and Zero bullets, however I am looking for a solid and soft shooting load that makes Major power factor.

Thanks in advance.

I use West Coast 230gr RN Plated, 5.6gr Universal Clays, OAL 1.245-1.250. 732 FPS (168 PF).

230 gn plated RN bullet, 5.6 gn W231, 1.250 OAL
This is what I shoot in IDPA CDP in Glocks, 1911s, and EAA Witness pistols. You could probably drop to 5.4 gn of W231 with no problem, as the 5.6 gn duplicates the military ball load. For my level of shooting, a tad lighter recoil wouldn't make any difference, but this is the same powder weight I use for another caliber.

Hey Old school you need the free load data book from Hogdon.
230 grain with 4.8 tite makes 818 fps.
I think the last load I shot Idpa was 230 rainer rn@1.270 4.5 and made the cdp min power floor.

I just bought 2000 bullets from Angus. I cannot wait to start working on a load. I am going to go with TiteGroup unless I have trouble with it. I should be fine. My 9mm loads are the cat's a$$.

One to consider...

My USPSA/IPSC Major load in .45 for a Springfield 5" 1911:
Precision 230 RNFP
Win brass and primer
3.9 of regular straight ordinary Clays
Chronos' at 763 for a 175pf.

3.8 of Clays chronos at 748 for a 172pf it you want to roll the dice at the chrono stage.

Due to the shape of the Precision bullet, load to a OAL of 1.220" to 1.230". It will have the same seating depth of as a 230 LRN at 1.260".

For jacketed bump up the load a couple of tenths. First chance you get go throw 30 over a chrono to see what your load is doing in your gun. Until you do you really don't know what the performance of the load / gun combination is.

Tried Win Super Target, VV N320, and Berrys Plated bullets in various combinations and didn't like any of them for various reasons.

Lately I have been trying American Select to reduce some of the smoke from Clays loads.

Gun Caspian frame, Schuemann 5" AET barrel
Brass Federal
Primers WLP
4.4 w/Precision 230gr RN @ 1.200 Ave 20 rounds 764
4.4 w/MasterBlaster 225gr RN @ 1.240 Ave 20 rounds 778
They are above PF on purpose after a bad day in Bend in the snow.
4.3 of WST is in the same speed range but feels snappier.

Now that I have a Service model I will have to try these again.

Know the feeling. I tried loading to 170pf for a while till I nearly went minor at a major match, 165.2 pf. This was with WST. Thought that the powders temperature sensitivity was the issue and went with VV N320. Nope. After hitting 165.4 pf at another match I realized it isn't the powder, it's me. I'm loading too light. I'm now loading to 172 to 175 pf so I don't have to stress the chrono. Can't tell the difference that another tenth of powder feels in the heat of competition anyway.
