There is no doubt a lot of ammo is being sold
There are a lot of AR`s being sold as well
But I dont think there is a shortage, it`s just that the Op is going in the Walmart at the wrong time, there may be a few guys buying it up at that particular store as soon as they get an order in
Another thing that is being done, is that in some areas that have a lot of gun shows, you have some guys buy it up locally and then take it to the gun shows and jack up the price

I work at a Wal-Mart distribution center and we ship out a lot of ammo on a daily basis. People are just buying it up as soon as it hits the shelf. Try being there when it opens. That's you best chance to get it. Check out http://www.freedommunitions.com. They have some cheap brass ammo for sale. Don't know about the quality yet. Good luck. Were all in the same boat.

Is your rifle chambered for 5.56 or .223? I have been able to get all I wanted of 5.56 from www.freedommunitions.com they have both 5.56 and .223 new and reloads reasonably priced ($307/1000rnds including shipping for 5.56 M855/SS109 62gr reloads).

I just bought the last seven(7) boxes(20 count) of .223 that my local wally world had in stock. Counter guy told me he orders it every week but only gets a couple of boxes of each brand each week. I think it is time to start ordering online.

They had several brands at academy. Not much plinking around stuff, but not crazy expensive. I just ordered 500 rounds from sgammo.com. They are even low on some inventory, but they have some bulk stuff.
