Cheap as WWB, but cleaner?

I've shot almost nothing but WWB 115 gr. FMJ for the duration of my entire shooting experience (about 1100 rounds). It works fine, shoots where I want to, cheap at Wal-Mart, readily available... But I can't deal with how dirty it is.

What's the next best thing that's relatively inexpensive but doesn't leave as much fouling? I guess I'm lazy - I just don't want to put in the effort to clean as hard anymore.

I've shot mostly WWB. I don't bother doing a total scrubbing. I've cleaned it once. At 5000 rounds, I'll probably just take it to the gun shop and pay them the $15 for the more extensive cleaning.

Try the 100 rd boxes of Remington UMC. I've had pretty good luck with those.

What do you consider "dirty" about WWB? Is it every caliber of round or only specific ones? I would consider Wolf as a "dirty" round.

WWB .223/5.56 is all that I shoot in my AR-15.....It is X-193 ammo and is packaged in Israel.

This is referring to 9mm. I guess they make WWB 115 gr. FMJ for other calibers as well?

My reply was a general question for anyone to answer. I have heard so many other backyard cowboys refer to WWB as a dirty firing cartridge when they don't really understand what the term means. They just read it or hear someone else say it. ALL FIRED AMMO PUTS CARBON THROUGH THE BARREL AND IN THE CHAMBER. Why would you dare to complain about "dirty"ammo if all that you have ever shot is 1100 rounds of 9mm WWB. Get some more shooting experience with other brands as a comparison, then decide if WWB is dirty.

It's true that I've been assuming WWB is "dirty" based on other people's feedback and experiences. My only non-WWB experience is 100 rounds of Fiocci and 50 rounds of equivalent Magtech. I just don't like bothering with cleaning.

Then again, if I'm shooting a lot, it might just make more sense to bite the money bullet and fire more cheap WWB (and maybe Wolf) and get used to the occasional cleaning. The ultimate goal for me is to develop shooting skills, and that requires lots of spent ammo.

Using steel cased cartridges way wear out your extractor prematurely. Wolf does make a brass cartridge however. WWB is good enough for plinking and is not really all that dirty. I use it and CCI Blazer Brass in all of my handguns. Walmart seems to have the best ammo prices.

Keep you firearm CLEAN. It is your friend. There are many like it but that one is yours. Keep it lubed with Breakfree CLP.
