Cheap as WWB, but cleaner?
I've shot almost nothing but WWB 115 gr. FMJ for the duration of my entire shooting experience (about 1100 rounds). It works fine, shoots where I want to, cheap at Wal-Mart, readily available... But I can't deal with how dirty it is.
What's the next best thing that's relatively inexpensive but doesn't leave as much fouling? I guess I'm lazy - I just don't want to put in the effort to clean as hard anymore. |

I've shot mostly WWB. I don't bother doing a total scrubbing. I've cleaned it once. At 5000 rounds, I'll probably just take it to the gun shop and pay them the $15 for the more extensive cleaning.

Try the 100 rd boxes of Remington UMC. I've had pretty good luck with those.

This is referring to 9mm. I guess they make WWB 115 gr. FMJ for other calibers as well?

It's true that I've been assuming WWB is "dirty" based on other people's feedback and experiences. My only non-WWB experience is 100 rounds of Fiocci and 50 rounds of equivalent Magtech. I just don't like bothering with cleaning.
Then again, if I'm shooting a lot, it might just make more sense to bite the money bullet and fire more cheap WWB (and maybe Wolf) and get used to the occasional cleaning. The ultimate goal for me is to develop shooting skills, and that requires lots of spent ammo. |

Using steel cased cartridges way wear out your extractor prematurely. Wolf does make a brass cartridge however. WWB is good enough for plinking and is not really all that dirty. I use it and CCI Blazer Brass in all of my handguns. Walmart seems to have the best ammo prices.
Keep you firearm CLEAN. It is your friend. There are many like it but that one is yours. |
