low cost, lead free ammo solutions?
is shooting in a lead free environment an issue for anyone here? if so, what are some cost effective cartridges I can buy? I'm looking for lead free bullets or fully encapsulated (including enclosed base) bullets. I'm currently using Magtech Clean Range and Winchester WinClean, but these cartridges are fairly expensive (45 ACP)

if you know someone who will reload for you, or you can use his press Rainier leadSafe bullets are very good priced.

I suspect the higher cost of WinClean and Clean Range are due more to the use of lead-free primers than encapsulating the base of the bullet. Even if you were to go with a fully encapsulated bullet or lead-free bullet, the primer is also a primary consideration.

I've got nothing for .45, but I saw this place selling Fiochi leadless for (what I consider) a reasonable price in 9mm and .40S&W.

The UMC (green box) Leadless is pretty good. Although I still think they're fairly expensive. At first I was shooting those, but gave up on them. I realized for every 4 boxes I buy of the green box I can get almost twice as much as the cheap stuff.
I don't think the bullet is completely leadless, but it has a FNEB (flat nosed enclosed base bullet) so it "prevents the vaporization of lead from the bullet’s base upon firing". http://www.remington.com/products/am...C_leadLess.asp

Lead Free
If they want total lead free the cheapest will be those Rainier. You can get a box of 500 230gr. RN for the .45 ACP for $32.99 from MidwayUSA.com (plus about 10.00-11.00) for shipping.* Heavy box. Those are 100% plated. Hope that helps.
