200 rounds for me before I carry it. At tyhe range, I use Federal, WWB, Georgia Arms and Atlanta Arms reloads, and anything else that's on sale. I also reload. For carry in my caliber, 9mm, I prefer Speer Gold Dot 124 gr., or Corbon DPX 115 gr.

2) Find the specs on the FMJ you like and find as similar of a carry round as you can to those spec's. Buy the carry rounds and shoot those occasionally but mostly shoot the FMJ's at the range to save some cash.

Just a note, vel has little to do with how much powder is in the case. There are many diff burn rates. You can get 1200fps in the 9mm w/ 4gr of powder or 10gr of powder. I do agree w/ using practice ammo that mimims your carry ammo as much as possible for practice, but it's not essential. Good pratice is good practice. That is more important than what ammo you practice with.

You don't become a better shooter unless you can shoot more & you don't shoot more unlesss you can do it for less. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 post(s).

Your right, I should have put power of powder or something instead of amount. Wasnt in a formal mindset so laymaned the term up significantly.
Good practice is good practice, but consistant performance also builds good practice and keeping as similar of rounds will help with consistant performance (38spl vs 38 +p and .357mag in a .357 revolver as an example), yeah the rounds may fly short distances relatively the same, but you will know the effects of the recoil to help train for faster recoverys.
