Spent casings?

I have been thinking about getting into realoading and was wondering how you guys and gals go about picking up your spent casings. what i mean is when i go to the range my casings usually hit the booth wall and go wherever they land. Do you just look around and pick up whatever you find? what is your methods?

Thanks..
Billy

Indoor range I used to go to provided a small broom and dust pan, I would offer to sweep up after people around me if they didn't want their brass, sort later...that was until the range said that they "wanted" you to turn in your brass...turns out they were reloading the ammo and selling it as new...I DON'T shoot there anymore.

I now shoot at an outdoor range, pick 'em up one at a time. I have heard of people using the roller things that are for picking up pecans and that working well, matter of fact, I think someone started to sell them labeled as brass catchers.

I have the luxury of living out in the country. If I plan on shooting alot of semiauto, I spread a tarp to catch most of my brass. If not here are tons of places online that sell once fired brass fairly reasonable.

I carry a Crown Royal bag in my range bag and pick up all I can without looking like a total goober. If I'm the only one there, then I can pretty much fill the bag. If the range is pretty full, then I don't make a big fuss and just pick up what I can in my immediate area.

Indoor range where I shoot, provides broom to sweep them together and I just pick them up and put them in my brass bag ...

Outdoor, usually means a match and folks are good about pitching in and picking up brass after each shooter.. I usually lose about 10% of the brass at a match..

I hope to reload someday when I get a better feeling for it and aquire all the equipment. This gun thing has quickly overtaken my way of thinking. I love it!

If shooting out doors not at a range I try and position my "range" so that brass doesn’t go anywhere to grassy ect...

If I'm at the public range I usually try and pick up brass every few clips to spread out the pickup time. I usually can't get just MY brass so I put the spent cases in an ammo holder so I know I am leaving with as much as I came with. The range here let's you pick up your own but asks that anything left be left for them to clean sort and sell online to reloaders.

I've had this grand scheme of setting up a big angled tarp that would funnel the brass into a bucket after catching each round, but i have gone into the forest and actually set it up yet...

I shun indoor ranges, but if I do go, take a push broom w/ you if they don't have one. Pick up everything no one else wants, ask first.

You don't become a better shooter unless you can shoot more & you don't shoot more unlesss you can do it for less.

I mostly just pick up my own stuff off the ground at the range. some times the guy next to me will let me take his also. most people sweep it into the dirt which i think sucks because i have to clean it longer.
