most reliable 230 gr hollowpoint
XD .45 owners, what brand of hollowpoint bullets have fed/functioned most reliably in your XD? For how many rounds? I don't care nearly as much about expansion/penetration/weight retention (Though I do care about them or I'd stay with ball ammo) as I do about reliable feeding. Not esp. fond of +p or light loads, I like standard pressure 230 gr. Within those parameters, what does the XD .45 digest best?

I have shot a ton of hornady xtp's since I got them "free" with the LNL ap press and dies. Also WWB JHPs I have shot a few hundred without any problems with either.

Both of my compacts have eaten Federal, Speer, Hornady, Winchester, in 200, 230, and even 165 without any feeding problems.

Are you reloading or just buying factory ammo?

Are you asking about bullets for reloading or loaded ammo?
Your post says bullets not ammo.

I have tried only HST and Gold Dots in my PD reloads.
I have had a few FTF with HSTs at varying seating depths. Gold Dots have fed 100% in my XD45c.
I've used up the HST and now only run the GD for PD ammo. The GD have run flawlessly in ALL of my 45 pistols, so it's a no-brainer for me.

I have the same experience as Rocker71--I've shot a bunch of the 230gr Hornady XTPs and they've fed as they're supposed to.
Most reliable? I can't say--I've not tried them all.

Where did you find HST to reload? My understanding is that the HST's are only available from Federal to LEO distributors for sale only to LEO's and only in factory loads.
Also a FTF is a failure to fire not a failure to feed, which is I believe what you meant.

To my knowledge, the HST is not available to reload. So if you want a reloading component, the best out there ar the Speer GD & Rem GS along w/ the XTP.
