Annealing Question

I did a search and found some good info but still have a question.

I picked up some once fired brass that had been highly polished so the annealing color is gone. It is mixed HS and some brands, such as LC, I am sure had been annealed but others I'm not sure about. Is it OK to anneal brass if it had been annealed once before and, should I anneal any brass that I am not sure if it had been done before?

It is a waste of time annealing pistol brass and rifle brass is done on the upper 30% of the case only.

Thanks for the fast reply Dan. I forgot to mention that it's 223 brass.

You can over anneal so I would reload it as is & when you see signs of the cases becoming brittle, then anneal again.

+1
odds are the cases are fine and there is no point in doing it right now

i dont bother to anneal mine, i just use range pickups and inspect them before i load them, anything iffy gets tossed in the scrap brass pile

I don't think you will find any .223 brass that hasn't been annealed. I've loaded some of mine "too" many times and have never had any problems. They don't even split! How would you anneal them?

If need be my plan was to use the technique I found on the internet, place them in a pan of water, heat the necks with a torch then knock them over. Since reading these responses however, I will leave them as they are.
