My RCBS 270 dies say to adjust the resizer die in so it tutches the shellholder when the ram is all the way up to the top of the cycle. That gives a full neck resize.

Now, what brand are your dies and what are the instructions (Word for Word) Print them out so we can see what if anything you are doing wrong.

Lee dies are fine.I use rcbs Full Length sizing die. After sizing the case i chamfer the case mouth to accept the bullet easier.I don't crimp my .270 rounds for my Ruger bolt gun.

The LEE Collet die compresses around the mandrel as you apply pressure, if you are setting it up on a LEE press you crank it down 1 full turn after it touches the shell plate for non LEE presses you go 2 turns this eliminates cam over which can damage the die/press
If you want more neck tension you can turn the mandrel down or contact LEE and tell them what size you want, the trick to using the Collet die is applying the right amount of pressure

Per the Lee reloading book it is making the neck just a few thousands smaller than .277 so that there is some tension holding the bullet once seated. I've loaded 100s of .270 win and never had an issue. You don't need a crimping die, as was said above.

I've always had to adjust my Lee Collet Dies so that the press does cam over, in order to get proper neck tension. How, exactly, does camming over hurt either the die or the press? I'm talking about a Rockchucker and a Dillon 650.
