I am currently trying to build up my stash of ammo up to 1000 rounds. I shoot a .40 and a 9mm regularly. I was thinking maybe 100 rds of each in JHP and the rest in target ammo. The way I build it up is I buy one more box than I shoot on the previous weekend.

My question is: what's your magic number?

I don't know what mine is, but if yours is 1,000,000 then I'd say that's a good start!

Currently just for pistol calibers I have.

45ACP 500 JHP Mostly Win. Ranger, but have some Gold Dots, and HST's mixed in. Currently have 5k of Reloads, with mats for another 5k ready to load.
9mm 300 rounds of Gold Dots and 2k Reloads.
10mm Im a little short on right at 1k mixed ball and JHP's all relaods
.357 500 JHP's and 1k LSWC

Much more than 1k...

I guess over 5K in a caliber I shoot a lot (9mm, .45, 556/.223, .308 ); when I get below that, something is wrong in my universe, and I feel cold...

I think I've got over 50K rounds of .22LR...

I keep 1,000 rds of .45 in an ammo can my closet and just rotate new boxes in as I buy more. Need to build up a stash of .40 and 9mm as well.

I have alittle over 2000 rnds of 9mm and 2500 rnds of .22. That's a pretty good stash for me since since I don't get out to shoot that often.

I always buy ammo in bulk. I haven't started reloading (yet) but I have been collecting my brass for a while. I buy minimum 1k rounds of target ammo at a time and buy several hundred rounds of defense ammo at a time because it saves a bundle of $$$. Every time I go to the range I make sure to shoot at last one or two magazines of my defense ammo, if nothing else I cycle out what I keep loaded.
