dillon 550 B price??
Sportman's Warehouse is having a 10% off sale for 5 days. They stock Dillon reloading supplies. They have a 550B reloading press for $330 and Dillons dies for about $53-58 I forgot the exact die price. Is roughtly about $350 for a new in the box Dillon 550B and dillon .45 ACP die set
a good price?? I bought a lee pro 1000 in 45 acp, safety scale, bullet feeder, and a few other lee items from Midway USA which is still in the box. Thinking about returning the lee stuff to Midway USA and getting the Dillon stuff before the sale ends. As far as I can remember about 550 B prices this seems like a good price. Don't have to worry about missing parts or having to send the 550B in to get refurbished if bought on E-Bay. I've seen some E-bay bids end up more than a brand new press from Dillon. This is brand new in the box stuff. Thanks for any input about the price. |

I have not moved to a progressive reloader yet. I enjoy loading small amounts of 44 magnum and 30-06 ammo on my Lee Anniversary. From everything I have read your best bet is to dump the Lee progressive and go with the Dillon. I have loaded on a friend's Square Deal B and I must say it was very fast and easy. Once I get more room for a reloading bench I plan to get a 550B or 650 myself.

Here is a link that can answer a lot of questions about Dillon. You can also compare Brian's prices with what you have at Sportsmans.

A new 550 will run you about 370 bones, but thats with a die set and conversion kit. Is the press offered at this sale including a die set in the price? if so, you are saving some dough. I have a 550, and it absolutley rocks.

Gunpilot,
Just checked Bians site for what comes with the 550B. The dies are Dillon dies also. The press is in a Dillon box so I'm assuming it comes with the standard 550 B stuff. Calculate cost with 550B price $330 + dies $58=$388-$39(10%) gave me the approximate $350 price. I think it is a good price. No shipping or waiting just pay and out the door. Now how do I explain it to the wife? Time to brush up on my "New stuff wife Radar evasion Tactics" Thanks |

The 550B from SW does not include a conversion kit or dies. That is why the price from SW is less than Dillon direct. If you add on the cost of the conversion kit it is the same. You will save 10% but that may be best deal around.
I have a 550B and it is a great press. You will not look back. My auto casefeeder came in today so we will see how that goes this weekend. |

If your wife balks at the expense, show her the savings in ammo costs over how much you shoot. When I did this for my lovely bride, she phoned the order in for me.

Gfoon,
If you buy a 550B setup for 45ACP from Brianenos it will cost you $425.90. That includes free shipping for going over $400 on the order. If you can get a 550B WITH a conversion set, and dillon dies for less than that at SG, I say go for it. There usually are not any discounts to be had on Dillon stuff so you may be getting a decent deal at SG. You have to make sure you are getting a press with the conversion set for that price. 550's are sold both with and without conversion sets, unlike the other Dillon presses, which all come with conversion sets. |

I bought a Hornady Lock-N-Load w/case feeder about 9 months ago and have already recouped the initial cost on ammo savings. Dont want to get in a red/blue war, but I can say its been a outstanding press for the 4000 or so rounds I have put thru it. Total cost investment so far is around $450 and set up for 10mm, 40Sw, 9mm, 44mag, .223 rem.. with all future case feeder plates allready costed out.
