So after searching some old threads about the Federal HST ammo are they still having problems jamming the .45's? Also, what kind of ammo does everyone shoot to practice with? I had a few recommendations from some people, but wanted XD owners opinions: Remington Golden Saber, Hornady Tap, and the Federal HST's. I pick up my gun Wednesday, so I want to get some good ammo for this gun. Also, how much do I need to get? I keep hearing of a cap they may put on how much you can buy. TIA!!

I practice with Blazer Brass in my 45. For the 9mms and 40, its Blazer Brass or Federals in the maroon box. Both can be had at Wal Mart, cheaper than anywhere else.

I have yet to see the Feds in 45ACP...only 9 and 40. The Feds in 9 and 40 run well in my P228, Hi-Power and the Glock 22. All my 45s love the blazer Brass 45 fmjs.

The only way you will know if your XD will feed this or that ammo is buy a box & run it through. My XDTAC feeds every JHP I have tried, but doesn't mean your will. Run at least 25rds through from several mags. If it works, then I would certainly trust it. Some will say 100, 200 even 500! A FTF could happen @ 101, 201 or 501 or at 26. So you need to decide, but test at least 25 using each of your carry mags.

I've shot quite a bit of the HST +P through my 45c with no issues of any kind.

For practice, I use Blazer and Federal Champion.
