Hornady Powder Thru Expander alternative
I bought an RCBS lockout die, and wanted to use a powder-thru expander so I could open up a station on my LnL press for the lockout.
But the reviews online of the Hornady offering are decidedly mixed. In researching them, I ran across an alternative, one I couldn't find having already been referenced on XDTalk.
It's here: LNLPTX -- Fully Featured Powder Through Exapnder
It's a PTX for the Hornady LnL powder drop that works for all calibers, and while it's pricier (at $25 incl. shipping) than the Hornady offerings, since it works for all calibers you only have to buy one.
The reviews of it on various sites are nothing short of rave reviews.
I've gone one coming--should show up next week Monday. I'll report on it after I get a chance to use it, but I thought I'd suggest it as an alternative.

mongoose33,
I have not been able to get this link t work. I have tried 3 different browers and none will work. I can google it and come up with the address I assume you linked to, but can not get it to open up. I don't know if it's just me ?

Yeah, the page is blank. I'm interested if I could just buy one that works for all calibers.
It took me a lot of trial and error but I finally got my Hornady expanders to work.
The trick is that the arm of the powder drop needs to top out about 3/4 of the way through your downstroke. If you adjust it that way they work great.

I just went to the page and it worked fine in Chrome. But I tried it in Internet Explorer and it doesn't work there. It doesn't work in Firefox. And I tried it in Opera and it doesn't work there either
That's really weird. I'll email the guy and let him know.
Unless the only reason I can see it in Chrome is that it's cached.
I just got mine in the mail today. It looks very well made. Haven't had a chance to try it but I'll putz around the shop tonite and see how it does.
I'm just back from testing some loads for accuracy at the range. Now that I have an idea what I want in a load, I'm ready to load up 500 or 1000 of them. But I need that PTX to do it the way I want.

mongoose33,
I haven't been able to get it to work using any of the browsers you mentioned. I use Chrome as my main browser, but use FireFox at times, Hardly ever use IE unless i can't get the other two to work. I'll try it at work, have computer in lunch room running Ubuntu and FireFox.

The site is down. I read on another site that it's being redone by a webmaster. Strikes me as not that great a webmaster if you can't even put up an "under construction" page instead of simply what we get.
Supposedly going to be finished by tomorrow. YMMV

I just got a PM from Dan at LNLPTX (on another site). Here's what he says:
Going back live tomorrow. I'm making a server move. Try tomorrow evening after work. Should be up.
Thank you for your business. I apologize for the website issue, something that went beyond my control.
Dan
So, hang on for another day.
