Shootin' Lead in an XD?
Got the opportunity to pick up some 125 and 147 grain lead bullets for about 4-5 cents per... and I'm thinking of loading in my XD Service 9mm. Plan on using them for practice and IDPA... but I don't know anyone who's loading them for an XD. Any of you guys shooting lead cast? I know the 125s are 18 BNH... and the 147s are a bit softer.

If they are round nose they should be fine. some bullet types will not feed very good though. If possible buy a small quantity and try them out. If they work then snag the rest.

I reload and regularly shoot lead bullets in my XDs with no ill effect at all.

Nice to know... that's some pretty cheap shooting at a nickle a piece. Thanks for the replies.

No problems with SWC lead bullets in the 9mm not like the SWC issues in the 45. My loads in a service model is 124 gr casr SWC at 1100 FPS thru a chrono. Yes there is some leading but not anything extensice. I use a bore snake and if I have too much a Lewis lead remover. Regardless the gun cleans easily and is very accurate and really fun to shoot.
In my 45 I switched to 45 200 gr RNFP and voila no feeding problems. FYI |
