The springs in mags are worn by cycling not by being compressed. Storing loaded won't hurt them, running rounds through them is what will wear them. There's a thread running around here about a guy that found 1911 mags that were fully loaded by his father some 20 years ago. They ran fine. Sorry I'm too lazy to search for the thread!!!

But how long do you keep the same bullets in the magazine?

With the same bullets or do you periodically reload the magazine? I am wanting to load the magazine and not use unless needed.

I'm no expert but you should cycle your ammo. Some say monthly others longer. I don't have a ton of cash so I buy my SD loads every six months or so. The ammo that has been in my carry/SD mags gets shot and the new rounds take their place. You should always test your SD ammo to make sure it will reliably feed in your weapon!!!

that will be fine. some people cycle their mags. others dont i have one mag at all times with ONLY personal/ home defense rounds in it. the rest is fmj ball ammo. for what your asking you will be fine.

you always want to practice shoot a few times with your defense ammo though. just to be sure it works proper in your weapon.

Cycling your ammo ever couple of years is more than fine.

I am shooting Garand ammo that was loaded in the 50s into en bloc clips. Ammo has a long shelf life.

I load mine and almost never unload it. Why would I want to?
