What bullets do you buy?
I'm looking to get into reloading, but I'm struggling with bullet cost, as that seems to be the big variable for allowing me to be cost effective. Just not much savings over WWB for target plinking in 40 cal. that I've been able to figure out.
My son is thinking of getting a 45, which would be a big cost savings to reload, but for me I think I might better put the money towards a new 9mm for the range. Anyone reloading 40 cal more than a few bucks cheaper than $16/100 (my WWB cost) that could point me to your source? I'd like to stick with FMJ or copper coating, but would consider an all lead round if it brought the cost down substantially. Thanks in advance, Woody |

If you pick up recyled brass and shoot lead....You can get your cost for shooting .40 down to about 3$ a box of 100....mucho savings. Find a good brass source, try an LE range and ask if you can pick up the brass (usually .40) and find someone local who sells lead bullets. You'll be paying 23-25$ for 500 .40 bullets on the average. Having lead shipped to your door is expensive. I drive to Phoenix to pick up mine, or i buy zero bullets where the shipping cost is included.

I use either Berry's or Rainier plated from Cabelas. Also a buddy and I just ordered 165gn FMJ HP's Zero's for about .064¢ in a quanity of 5K. My cost per round of .40 is 8 to 9¢ using the above and Win 231 or WST. about half of the cost of WWB from Wally world.

I am a big fan of Zero JHP bullets. I load them in 9mm and .45ACP.

Thanks guys. So much info 'out there' on the subject it is difficult to wade through the chaff. You guys gave me great leads and now I have several places to choose from!
I ordered 2100 180gr .40 moly coated for $99.95 *delivered* from MasterBlaster which gets the bullet cost for me down to $4.76/100. Powder and primer should be doable for a little over $3/100 (this I can get locally to save the hazardous shipping fees). $8/100 makes it VERY reasonable now. After I shoot the MB, there are a few others you guys suggested that have low shipping costs or that are included in the price. My first choice would be to go with the Rainer if I could find away to avoid shipping (I'm in N. Virginia). Thanks again for all the great sources! Woody |

One of the club members were I shoot alot of USPSA orders Montana Gold by the pallet. Last fall I got 1k of 180 RNFP MG CMJ for 65$. With the cost of lead I think they will be slightly more expesive this year but it not bad for a CMJ.
