what ammo do you like best?

I am in the process of trying different ammo each time to the range to see what I like most. I'm just wondering what ammo do you like best for the range, price, quality... and also for defense ammo which do you like best? Are any more accurate than others that any of you have found? I can't tell yet, as I am having a problem being consistant with my aim!

For things like 9mm and 40 cal range sessions. WWB is fine. I don't reload for 9mm. I load 40 but not for my XD.

Carry ammo. they all are good REm, Fed, CCI..Just find what your guns feed reliably.

9mm I carry Fed hydrashock 147 JHP.

40 i carry Rem Golden saber in 155 gr or fed hydrashock.

I tend to agree with mullanman...... wwb works great at the range.. for 9mm I use 135 grain Hydra shocks and for .45 acp i use 230 grain speer gold dots. Both choices were based on reliability and accuracy in the guns I carry.

WWB from Wally World ($18/100 rounds) or Remington UMC from Academy Sports ($42/250 rounds), depending solely on which place I'm passing by first. Both brands of ammo have performed great for me.

Most accurate and reliable from both my XD's:

FMJ: Federal American Eagle 115grain
JHP: PMC Starfire 124grain

also 115grain Corbon +P JHP, when you get used to the difference in recoil, it's good stuff

My go-to guns are both .40s, and i keep them loaded with 165 grain Winchester Ranger SXT JHP, topped off with one 180 grain Speer Gold Dot. (I keep my chambers empty.)

I keep my 1911s loaded with 185 grain Remington +P JHP.

I'm thinking about moving everything over to either an EFMJ round, or Cor-Bon Powerballs, though, due to the ammo expanding more reliably. (Although, i'm having a hard time moving away from Winchester Rangers. I love that ammo.)

For plinking, i feed my guns a steady diet of WWB, or CCI Blazer, because there's a wally world right across the street from the range i go to, and the stuff is dirt cheap.

S&B if i take my Tok or Mak to the range, and Wolf or new Romanian or Russian surplus for my AKs.

Go Brass

Around here (Florida panhandle) CCI Blazer Brass is cheaper than WWB and at least for me I have NEVER had a problem with it. I have had a couple failures with the Winchester. The Blazer Brass (not the aluminum) is under $8 for a box of 50 at the local Wally World for the 40 S&W. I buy at least 3 boxes every time I'm in there.

Reliable and accurate from my XD-9: CCI Blazer (aluminum) and WWB. Both have been flawless in performance. I'm around 2K rounds now through my gun without one malfunction.

In my area (Tampa) a box of CCI Blazer (brass) is about 6.50 for 50 rounds, where a value pack of WWB costs about 14.50. CCI is cheaper, but not by much.

Now, don't even get me started about the actual range. They charge 13 bucks for a box of 50 WWB.
