 Believe it or not, I check my chamber again after I clean my rifles or pistols. Yeah, I am the only one in the garage, but I check the chamber complusively. Good habit that works for me. *Maybe this story should be posted again on the regular forum?* it's a good wake up call.

He has to check his pistol, IN THE CAR, to see if it needs CLEANING? I don't doubt that he shot himself, I do question the exact circumstances. Or, at least, what was he smoking at the time.
This does, at least, illustrate the problem of having to pull the trigger on your pistol in order to disassemble it. Know of any others like that, besides Glock, of course?

I'm fairly new to pistols, so I wouldn't know. Didn't even know Glocks were like that.
But damn, makes me glad the XD's have that loaded chamber indicator on the top!

well, according to the book, you need to pull the trigger on an
XD to remove the slide also. im new to XD's and DAO pistols so i dont know how many more of them require you to pull the trigger for slide removal. i would never check to see if my weapon needed cleaning in a vehicle. besides, if it has been shot, it needs to be cleaned...................

Just have to remember... treat EVERY gun as if it is loaded. And never pull the trigger unless the gun is pointed in a safe direction. Even if you just checked the chamber, even if you're loaded with snap caps, even if you just reassembled it, treat it as if it will go bang and you will save yourself a LOT of trouble.
