I have been observing over the last two months, our Walmarts seem to get 22lr and some other ammo in on Thurs evenings, as Friday morning at 7:00am when I stop by, they always have some 9mm, .40, Federal and Win .22 bulk.
Been buying a few 550 Federal boxes every week, stocking up for my 11 year olds M&P 15-22 xmas gift.

another 2 boxes of VP Federal .223 same price $39.97. That's 4 boxes in less than 2 weeks, walmart seems to be caching up around here

Getting better around here - I wonder what will happen as the new ammo laws go into effect in CA - long way off but I could see it effecting ammo again.

My local stores are doing well too. There are three of them pretty close to me. Between the three, it's rare that I can't get a box of whatever I'm n the mood for.
I typically stick to 38, 38+P, 45acp, 223, and 12ga. I also keep a few boxes of 30-06 and 30-30 around. And for the times I'm looking to make real noise, a couple of 45-70 too...
I hope we are at the end of the supply crunch now. It would be nice to see a reasonable flow coming in.
BTW, my local Scheel's has been doing incredibly well too. They have tons of shotty and rifle stuff. Their handgun ammo case was almost full as well. They even had a few primers last time I was there!!!

Here in Southeast Louisiana 9mm & 40 S&W is fairly easy to find now at the local Wal-Mart. .380 is still extremely hard to find But my local Wal-Mart had a box hidden underneath the counter waiting for next regular customer to ask for it. Yup, I snapped up the 100 round box for almost 39 bucks. They had a problem with a local gun shop coming and buying all of the ammo. Now they stagger the times the ammo is put out and hold back the stuff in greatest demand underneath the counter for the regular Joe that comes in.

2 boxes of Federal .40 this morning. $13.47/ea. For some reason walmart always has plenty of the federal ammo in .40, but not much else.
