I use a Hornady taper crimp die for .45 ACP. Not really sure how much crimp I use but I guess I could measure it later tonight if you'd like

All you need to do is remove the bell from the case mouth unless you'll be shooting your reloads from a revolver, ie. S&W 25 or 625, then a roll crimp would be useful.

ALL semiauto pistol rounds should have a light taper crimp, always. Despite what some guys will say about there ammo running fine w/o, it will run better with a taper crimp. They will chamber better, & accuracy often improves from consistant bullet pull.

+1 to what Fred says.
I use a taper crimp of 0.005", maximum, measured at the case mouth. A crimp of 0.002" - 0.003" is enough. Too much crimp will damage the bullet and too little can result in feeding problems. I use the barrel from the pistol I'm reloading for as a gauge. The finished round should drop easily into the chamber with a definite "thunk" sound when it bottoms out. The case head should be flush with the end of the barrel hood.

I use a Dillon taper crimp die for my .45's. I crimp them to .469, approximately .0015 per side. Visually, it's not much!

I do not understand what you mean by this question: "do you guy use a lite on your .45 acp?"

I use a small taper crimp as well on all autoloading ammo.

Bingo... I ran my loads for through the XD without a crimp up until I got my Sig, which needed crimped loads to not FTF. Its really a good idea to taper crimp em all.
