Compliance Parts

OK...how do I tell how many US parts are on my AK? So far I've heard that if it's got a Tapco fire control group, it's got at least 3...and I have no idea what that is. I know what the fire control group is, but how do I find out who made it?

I also heard that if there is a black dot on the piston it's factory Romanian. Is this how you tell what the FCG is? And where would the dot be, I couldn't find anything...

Cant answer your question, but if we are lucky this wont matter soon. This has to do with imports only being allowed for sporting purposes, but that is not only what the 2A is aobut. So it shouldnt be hard to get this ban overturned.

Also, is there any specific way to dremel out the magwell, or is it pretty much just get a double stack mag and start removing until it fits?

If its a WASR (or ant gun from Century), it has the FCG (hammer, trigger, disconnecter), pistol grip and gas piston. Non WASR guns have the addition of a US made receiver and sometimes the barrel. Didn't you just get a low cap WASR?? If you did, it has no compliance parts since its not a hi cap model. So you just change the gas piston, get a Tapco FCG and a US pistol grip and you'll be fine for a hi cap conversion. All you need are 5 parts...

not likely, the ban allows you to keep and bear arms, it just dictates what arms you can not have....and SCOTUS knows that, thats why we still have NFA/CGA laws.

OK, that's what I wanted to hear. I've looked online and found all 5 of those parts for around $50...although I might get the stocks separately.

You need to understand that you can't have more than 10 import parts. Sometimes it takes 5 American parts. Sometimes it can take seven or eight. Here is a list and a place to buy them.

That's fine, with the FCG, piston, pistol grip and stock/foregrip, that would make seven.
