If she's wants to try stuff out and is open to it, hand her whatever, if not, don't force it. My wife was open to trying and she shot whatever people put in her hands/arms...even the .45-70. She's all of 5'7" and about 125 lbs...just go at her pace. Make sure it's fun and not pressure. If she feels pressure, she might stop going altogether.

So yes, I shot the .357 mag and feel in love with it (years ago). Once I shot it and knew how to use it, I was not interested in shooting anything else.

I am open now to trying the 9mm and the 45...but the rifles...I don't know. One step at a time.

BTW...alll I am hearing is...I can't believe you registed for this forum.

What is making you hesitant about the rifles?

Hold the rifle right and you won't get one. Get that husband of yours to teach you something.

My twin 11yo boys shoot all my AKs, they say that the AKs are the easiest to handle and the ones that don't hurt when they shoot them....even my wife, whom dislikes guns, will shoot my AKs.

First off..........welcome to the forums.

Second...........I wouldn't worry about getting a bruised shoulder. The recoil is not really that bad. Keep the butt of the weapon firmly against your shoulder and not away from your shoulder.

My wife was hesitant to shoot my AR-15 at first. I loaded a single round in it and had her shoot it. She couldn't believe how light the recoil actually was. We even took her mother (who was in her 60's at the time) to the range along with my niece (who was 16) and they both shot the AR. They both loved shooting it and had a blast.

Have your husband put a single round in it and fire it from the hip if you want and you will see the recoil is not that bad on an AK. Believe me, the recoil from a .357 is WAY more than from an AK.

OK...........time now to put on your big girl pants and shoot that AK!!!!!!

If you are shooting a 357 Mag picking up an AK or AR isn't a big deal. The AK doesn't recoil very much. My two older boys 13 & 10 shoot the AK and AR's all the time. I've even taking the scout troop shooting with the AK and AR's.

My wife will shoot the AK, AR's, XD's and shotgun but not my S&W 686 6" 357 Mag. Just make sure you have some ammo because once you become familar with how it operates your going to want to shoot it "a lot".

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum.

You make it sound so easy...I am almost convinced! I'm really wanting to go to the range now...but not sure I can make it this weekend.

Thanks to everyone for the great advice!
