AK47 The Weapon That Changed The Face Of War

If you haven't read this yet I highly recommend it. It's also available in paperback.

Amazon.com: AK-47: The Weapon that Changed the Face of War: Larry Kahaner: Books

I picked up a copy in the Newark airport on my way to Germany last month, and read some of it but grad school has most of my reading time consumed. Still, it was a good read so far and I can't wait until the semester is over and I can get back to reading it again...

Cheers! M2

This is not really a pro-gun book. I read it. You can also see YouTube videos of this left-wing author on Al-Jazeera. I would recommend people read it if it is in their local library, which is most likely will be given the left-wing slant of librarians, but I would not spend any of my own money on it.

I wouldn't call this guy a left winger:

"During the past half century, the AK-47 assault rifle has established itself as the most ubiquitous implement of destruction on the planet. No other gun comes close for its durability, low price, ease of operation, and sheer killing power. It has become a mainstay of armies and terrorists alike, and a universal icon of revolutionary upheaval. Larry Kahaner's book is the best history of this weapon that I have seen. AK-47: The Weapon That Changed the World will appeal to anyone who has ever watched the History Channel—or the evening news."
—Max Boot, senior fellow, Council on Foreign Relations, and author of The Savage Wars of Peace

I must have read a different version than you. What I got from it was more a historical and factual perspective on the AK and Mikhail Kalashnikov. To each his own.

Opinions vary and that is what is cool about this forum. We can agree to disagree. It has been a while since I read the book so I can't give specific examples. I think it was not really pro-American either.
