To .223 or not to .223?

That is the question!

I pretty much know the pros and cons of the 7.62 and 5.45 but is an AK in .223 worth considering or would I be throwing my money away?

Maybe check out the 6.8 spc? I dont think you can get it in a ak now that I think about it. If I got a AR though, thats what I would get.

right now with current .223/5.56 prices i would stear very clear from an ak chambered in that round. now if the ammo was cheap i would be all over one lol

i saw some XM885 or whatever those AR guys drool all over for $530.00 per 1k

wolf is still pretty cheap though well fairly cheap

Lets see here: for an Ak 47 or 74:

Mags in 7.62 and 5.45x39 are cheaper
Ammo is Cheaper
Ammo is generally more lethal (at least in 7.62) and arguably in 5.45

AK in 223 has no advantage that I can think of.

All that you can depend on from a 45 is that it will drill a .45 - .70 inch hole about 14 inches into someone. There will not be "energy dump", people will not fly backwards, and they will not necessarily fall as if they have been struck by lighting.

futureweapons had a M4 carbine calibered with 7.62x51... something about being able to shoot distances.

and if you had an AR you couldn't shoot dirty ammo like you could an AK, the AR is going to require something more expensive in the 7.62 lineup or it'll jam up relatively quickly.

not to mention AK mags in 5.56 are a little more difficult to find than 7.62 or 5.45 and i've heard rumors about mis-feeding...
