I am going back today to talk to him. I will try to get more info for you/us. When you decide you want to shoot yours, send me a PM. I have a couple hundred rounds you can play with.

the buttstock is not US made. That is what he told me yesterday. When I started asking about compliance parts, he kinda got in a huff and saying that he was a manufacturer and he has to be compliant or he would be in jail.

I went back today to talk with him. He was very nice today (I might have offended him yesterday with my lack of knowledge of AK's). He let me know the trigger was up to par with the others. And he told me more about how they made the gun, most was above my head. But, he did assure me this was a VERY well built gun. I am pretty sure the the stock, and other wood parts are not US made, as well as the mag. I look forward to getting to the range, with a lot more ammo, and having some fun!!!!

So where did the gun come from..can you take a picture of the left side of the trunnion where the gun's original serial number, year of manufacture and arsenal/factory stamp is. $625 is very pricey for an AK that is not one of the 'rarer' kits....If it's a Romanian AK, take it back-you got ripped....unless its got some serious one off or rare parts on it, or is like shyi3t's 'Khyber Pass' AK (thats what the AK-47 with AK74 stocks are) clone would be a steal at the price you paid, even if it was built on a Romanian kit like the ones from Henderson Defense.

chrisintx, I was at that gun show and bought one of those RPG-made AK's. I got one with lighter blond wood. They have a nice parkerized finish (at least that is what he told me - it is definitely a nicer finsihed than just the plain old black paint on my Saiga).

One problem I had, though, was that the mag well was too tight. He barely got the magazine locked into it and blamed it on being a "tight magazine - but I prefer them that way". Well, I got it home and none of the mags here would fit (Promag plastic or brand new Bulgarian). You could see on the plastic mag how it was shaving off plastic while trying to fit.

So, in looking at it and comparing it to the Saiga, I could see that the mag hole was a little too narrow - so I took a dremel grinder it to VERY lightly and kept testing until I was able to make the other mags fit. Now, however, the mags have a slight wobble (up and down) even though they can still fight you going in, and the bolt-hold-open does not work reliably - sometimes it does and all you have to do is shake the rifle hard and it will make the bolt release.

They do LOOK very nice, though. I made sure the sights were not canted or anything obvious like that. Every Century WASR I saw there had pretty badly canted front sights.

The reciever is made in the US by ARMORY US.

yeah my ak-74 style one was pretty tight .. but the old guy told me that they made it tight so no mag wobble. the mag he put it fit. When i got home i wasn't expecting it to be that tight.I tested my mags that i had and some fit and some didn't but now they fit . idk didn't do anything to it ..

Toss the proMags, the Bulgarians are like the Chinese-kinda fat. Open up the mag well to fit a Bulgarian mag and every other mag made will fit. Same with the AK-74. E German, early Russian, and Romanian bakelite mags are narrower than Russian, Polish and Bulgarian polymer mags. E Germans, Romanian, Russian bakelites and Polish steel 5,45 mags fit loose and wobble in all my '74s. All the polymer mags fit nice and snug with about a 1/4" of wobble at the floor plate (farthest point from the mag well) on a loaded mag. My 45rd mags have about the same.....
