Classic Arms also has the very interesting Polish Tantel rifles. Those look really nice and shoot the 5.45 round (which is more affordable than 7.62x39 and everywhere).

Anyone own a Polish Tantel? These might be fairly rare and worth more in the future. i have heard that the 5.45 round is fun to shoot and more accurate than the 7.62x39.

i have one, there are some pics of it on the AK pic thread.

i had some problem with it initially unchambering rounds, fte and all that jazz the first time i took it out, i scrubbed the chamber with an 8mm bore brush and it it works like a champ now.

last time i took it out 300 rounds rapid fire, slow fire, and bump fire, even the soft point barnuals that would not load before where shooting with no problem even bump fire lol.

i have not sighted mine in yet but i was shooting tennis balls at 25 yards i had to walk alot of them in since the gun has not been sighted in properly and its still fairly new to me.

mine is a Century now idea what the ones on classic arms are. the centurys have US made barrels.

+1, Tantals are great guns with Poland's tweak to the AK-74 design. The 'G' code guns are pretty nice for a Romanian, and the only semi only AK produced for duty ('patriot' Guards)

Tantals are very nice! BTW to have a smith put together a saiga is gonna run you more than $100 and that's if you can find someone who can do it right and if they can get to it within a year!

Thanks for the help...I am learning alot.

that is fine .. it does cost alot but their builds are good so i am willing to pay the price of $650 and plus i like ak's more than ar's

why not just get a romanian .. i have one also and it is the one i use all the time to shoot at the range .. it has not failed me once yet. i got it for $450 at Jim Pruett's store but some are cheaper at the shows if you look around.

Not for a conversion....you can do it at home. Torch, drill, hammer, and a freezer are your best friends if you don't have a press...the only 'complicated' thing is installing the lower hand guard retainer, and you can get around that by ordering the 2 piece unit from Dinzag

I think Classic Arms' 439 dollar G Code Romo AK is looking better all the time. Thats a good deal for a very nice rifle. They seem to have a better fit nad finish than the WASR and other Romanian AKs I have seen.

Yes, I have shot a Globla Trades Ak that was built on a Polish kit many years ago. Yes, they ARE very well made but too close to the AR-15s in price. My idea was to keep the AK to at or under 500 bills and with the G-Code Romo...that looks possible.

I do like the idea of the Polish Tantal and they seem very nice, but again...there is the caliber issue...adding another caliber. If I go with anything in 7.62x39, then my SKSs can eat from the same case of ammo.

So far, Classic Arms has the best price. I like some of Atlantic's AKs, especially the Romos that were built by Lancaster but they're 100 bucks or more than the G-code.

I am still looking around (and learning) but yes, the Classic G-Code is looking to be the best bet....unless Aim ever gets more of their converted Saigas back in but they were VERY iffy as to when that would be.
