Yugo aftermarket?

I need a new AK and most of the new ones I've seen are yugo's made by century arms... I am curious about aftermarket stocks and other options... is it true that most (if not all) aftermarket parts won't fit the yugo? Should I just get a romanian and deal with the bad mag wobble? Can I get a romanian, and somehow fix the mag wobble, then have all the aftermarket options? thanks

you are correct, most after market stuff will not fit. But I have a yugo underfold, that I put just about 4 hours in for every thing I have on it. Here is a pic.

All Romy don't have mag wobble, just the WASRs... My Romy G by classic arms is tight locking on every mag I have tried. I think the wobble comes from the wasr s that were converted from a single stack mag to hi-cap... I wonder if the GP1975s are the same way as the G codes. Basically, I think that if you get a Romy with a US (either Nodak or DCI) receiver you will have very little if any mag wobble

Dude, do you work for him? We know you like your AK, but seriously.

Mag wobble has everything to do with the build and not the version of the gun. So depending who/how the lower rail mag stablizer was ground and fitted will make all the difference.

There's a Hungarian, Romy, Yugo and Polish. None have mag wobble...but then again, I built them myself.

you could purchase one of the (many)few dried up kits on the market today and have an AK built for you.

That's the reason I've stopped buying kits...it's practically cheaper to buy an already made gun than it is to buy a kit and build.

Back to the original poster. If all you can get is a Yugo or a crappy Romy...then get the Yugo. I'd poke around some more, in your area, and see what other shops may have. I'm not saying the Yugo is bad, it's just limited if you want to mess with it.

not sure what the orignal posters budget is, but going with a kit gives him a greater variety than just choosing between a yugo and a romie.

i would pick up the yugo they seem to be drying up or just hard to find.
