Updated...Range report

Taking my Classic Arms Romy G HMG build back to the range today, trying out the newest mags I have gotten... the Eastern European 40 round steels from Centerfire. Both groups I have gotten from them appear to be completely unused surplus.

Also from Centerfire Systems is the dust cover with rail replacement for the factory dust cover. Had to file the new one down a bit, it was a little thicker than the original, but once the minor fitting was done, it fits tighter and better than original cant wait to mount some sort of optic on it

Let me know what you think of it when you have the optic mounted (and have used it!)

I have looked at this as a solution but am concerned that the optics wont stay aligned since the base they're mounted on is not a permanent fixture.

Yea, I'd like to hear about that mount as well. Like how well it retains zero if you take it off and put it back on three or four times.

Hope you have a good day at the range!!

once I get a scope/optic of some sort on it and shoot a couple times I will let you know, because I do a complete break down and clean after every range trip

you can get rid of that mount. its terrible at holding zero. best kind is the side mount (rail on receiver). then again, it is an AK

yeah, probably going back to the original dust cover and open sights, putting 35 of 40 rounds into a paper plate at about 35 to 40 yards is more than good enough, since that paper plate covers a nice center mass on an average person.

The 40 round mags were great, fired 240 rounds through with no misfeeds, jams etc
