Mag questions
I purchase several Romanian 30rd. steel mags at aimsurplus. I went and picked them up, looked over them and they appeared fine.
I got home and noticed that one would not function properly (follower sticks at top of mag, and when i can push it down it does not return to the top like it should). I cleaned them all with breakfree (since they were surplus), took them a part and soaked them in hot hot water and soap, dried them with paper towels and an air compressor (bone dry). This one mag still will not function right. Ideas? Suggestions?

maybe the spring is weak? or there is a burr or something in there its catching on. im not sure what AIMsurplus return policy is but i bet they would be willing to make the deal right if you took it back.

Sadly....its almost an hour drive (with construction). Their policy is all sales are final after you leave.
il check again for a bur, im thinking thats what it is because i tried 3 different followers and springs in this one mag body and all three did it.

Some of the bodies are distorted from storage/rough use/no quality control. Give them the 'evil eye' and you can find and fix most of the issues with them. And don't be afraid to use a dead blow hammer on them.

I got it working....see the thread titled "home-made mag"...or something like that.
I ended up taking it completely a part, cleaning it heavily, grinding out some rust spots, sanding, and a little re-shaping. To top if all off i painted it OD. turned out well!
