So im going to the gunshow this weekend. i want to get an ak dosent matter if its in 7.62 or 5.45. i would like to stay under the 400 buck range any idea what i should go after or look for?

For $400 your probably gonna get a Romanian,I have 2 of them there great shooters.Just look out for the canted sites.

good luck! gun show vendors normally jack there prices up quite a bit. i would shop around and not purchase the first one you see

most likely you will get a romanian if you are trying to stay under 400. and dont let them BS you about how the romanian rifles are no longer importable due to Romania trying to join NATO. they are already a Nato member, they are having a NATO summit there either right now or in the real near future they will be imported again soon so dont over pay

my brother has an sar 1 its a solid rifle but no muzzle break and the barrell is not threaded. those rpk clones do look interesting thou!

I love the 7.62 round, but 5.45 ammo is so cheap right now. You know what I would get a bulgy in 5.45

For an RPK-74, buy a standard Bulgarian AK and change the front end....

I would stay with 7.62. You can get 7.62x39 at Walmart, albeit expensive, but 5.45 "may" be hard to get in the future.
