Ak-47 muzzle brake

I was shooting my AK the other day, and was noticing that when I fire it, the recoil for some reason slams the stock into my jaw. I was looking at the muzzle brake, it is set at an angle, which I think is causing the rifle to torque into my jaw (I shoot lefty and it doesn't do it when I try right handed). So the question for the resident AK experts is: what can I do to stop this phenomenon? Is there a way to just remove the stock muzzle brake, or are there after market ones available? Is this something I could do myself, or would I need a gunsmith? I don't mind the recoil, it's just when it is all directed into my jaw that I have a problem. If anyone knows of a way I could fix this, I'd love to hear it.

there should be a pin in the FSB push that in and just unscrew your muzzle break.

you could go with a tantal style

i assume this is a slant style break....and its set for a right handed shooter.

you can push the pin in and turn the muzzle break to the opposite angle (if it is what i think it is).

Its a 'recoil compensator' for firing at full auto to help keep the the rifle from going up and to the right, and also to keep dust out of your face when shooting prone. Wanna stop 75% of the coil...get an AK-74 style brake (some call it a 'Tantal' style, but the Tantal brake is an AK-74 pattern that also shoots rifle grenades)....just make sure its for the 7.62 round, and not the 5,45 or 5.56....

Muzzle Brakes : BlackJack Buffers LLC

AK-74 style...above link is for the .30 calibre variant

Tantal style
