A stupid question

In general, what's more accurate, an AK or a SKS? I've heard it both ways, someone help me out.

I am asking because I may just get an SKS and a couple of mags for now, as opposed to trying to save for an AK, just so I can have an auto rifle before the idiots that make up this country vote in a Democrat.

Auto rifle? or semi-auto....

Semi auto. I could use my Santa Bush check on an AK, but I'd like to have a bit left over to pay bills with, to be honest.

AK's have a tad more parts availability....although both seem to be flooding the market.

Now that the SKS has the AK type magazines i think either is good. You will find more AK mags then SKS mags out there. Both accept a bayonet, both shoot 7.62x39, both are rather affordable.

If you want to keep it wood and arent partial to a pistol grip then get the SKS...If you like blackticool and pistol grips get an AK (or an aftermarket stock for the SKS).

You can't lose...

Close call but I'd give the SKS a slight edge

SKS, it typically has a longer barrel and a much longer rear to front sight length.

As far as inherent accuracy, it is probably pretty close.

You can get 2 SKS's for one AK and a little more accurate

SKS in 5.56 (yes the Chinese made them and sent some over) and 7.62. SHort stroke gas system, longer barrel = longer sight radius....but I can hold my own with an AK against them, unless the 'other' guy has as much time on them as I do with SKSs and AKs...

Another thing to consider in the AK vs SKS discussion is (and I'm making this term up) "loadability." Most of the SKS's out there do not have detachable mags like the AK, therefore you're stuck loading with stripper clips whether it's 10 rounds or 30. For all practicality, unless you're looking at getting a (was it D or M type) SKS with detachable mags, I'd save up and get the AK.

Just my thoughts

Just buy both. Neither is really expensive (compared to a AR) and both have its' own unique fun factor.
