What to look for in an AK

I am saving up for my AK. I want to get one before January 20th, 2009.

Around me, they start at $440 for a romanian and about $550 for a Yugo. I was told the Yugo is the better version. I do not want to spend boku bux on it, but want a mix of quality and performance.

What should i look for?

Get a Polish, Hungarian, Bulgarian or Chinese made weapon....Yugos are great guns, just not 'typical' AK spec and require specific furniture and some small parts. Other than a that, the Romanian WaSR AKs are not as nicely machined or finished as any other and thats kinda why they are so cheap. Unless its a kit built gun from a manufacturer (Not Century Arms) those prices are high. Youcan buy over the internet, pay for shipping, and transfer fee (unless he rapes you on his little fee) for your FFL to accept the shipment for less than that on both of those guns.....

Question Where to shop/prices to expect

einheit 13 " Get a Polish, Hungarian, Bulgarian or Chinese made weapon."

I'm following that thinking, but want to glean opinions on what's out there.
Anyone have experience/preference with these listed below or do you have another option to consider?

Polish -
AKM (underfolder) - $749)
Atlantic firearms - AR15 & AK47 rifles - Olympic arms at wholesale prices.

Hungarian -
AMD 65 - $489 Atlantic firearms - AR15 & AK47 rifles - Olympic arms at wholesale prices.

AKMMS (underfolder) - $689
Atlantic firearms - AR15 & AK47 rifles - Olympic arms at wholesale prices.

Bulgarian -
SSR-85C (Note: Heard these are arsenal built w/U.S. high- cap conversions & not kits. Anyone got info on these rifles?)
$550 - AIM Bulgarian SSR-85 7.62x39 Rifle Bulgarian SSR-85 7.62x39 Rifle
$559 - Atlantic firearms - AR15 & AK47 rifles - Olympic arms at wholesale prices.

Chinese -
Mak-90 - $???

Anything else?

yes you have to send the ffl license to the people online and then you also make arrangements to get the gun sent to your ffl dealer

Quote:
signed copy of the FFL MUST FIRST be on file before an order is placed/taken.
Quote:
What is a "Dealer Transfer"?A Dealer Transfer takes place when a 01 Federally Licensed Firearms dealer transfers a firearm to a Non-FFL Holder or consumer. If you are a consumer desiring to purchase a firearm from AIM, Inc., you must first locate a dealer in your area, who is willing to order/transfer the firearm to you. All fees for the transfer must be negotiated by you with the transferring dealer. You must have the permission from the dealer before placing an order to be shipped to the FFL dealer for transfer of the firearm(s). All firearms ordered for Dealer Transfer must be shipped to the dealer's licensed premise address.
