Budget or premium SPUD receiver?

I am researching receivers for my Rommy AK kit and based on input from other more experienced AK builders, think I'll go with a NoDak receiver.

My question is this - should I go with the economy NDS3 receiver @$55 or the premium NDS-1 receiver @ $80 (I'll probably buy qty 2 just so I have a spare in case of a future assault weapons ban).

Is there an advantage to the premium receiver or should I just stay cheap and cheerful?

TIA

Phil

Bro, it's a $25 difference. It's still $50 or so less than a stripped AR lower. I'd buy 2, just in case.

Ahmm, yeah, I can do the math. What's your point?

If the economy receiver does it, why spend the extra. If there is a real difference, then I'm more than willing to pay for it.

From what I can tell on the website, they are pretty much the same receiver with the differences being that the NDS-3 does not have:-

top rail step-down
laser-cut holes to eliminate stretch at trigger pin hole

I guess what I want to know is if those things are importanrt or not. For a trunk gun I am guessing not but since I have never built an AK or know much about them, I could do with some input.

Economy will do you just fine with many years of service with no trouble....If you run an AK like I do (1,000+ rounds on each range trip/competition weekend) then I would say get a premium just because of the chance of pin hole stretch. That however is very unlikely in any case except abuseful use....

Thank you! Economy it is then... and I'll have a spare if I wear out the original LOL

My point is just that, it's just a $25 difference. Is it really that hard of a decision? For an extra $25 you get a little more durability.

I apologize for insulting you. I didn't realize your ego was so fragile.

Phil I would go with the economy. Step down rails are nice but not needed necessarily. The laser cut holes dont matter to me. I only have one Premium Nodak receiver and that was because it is the only one they make for a Polish Underfolder. I noticed you found the group buy on FSN... Pam is great to deal with.
