Q on muzzle brakes/flash hiders
Hi - what are people's opinions on the various options? I understand what a flash hider's supposed to do, and a muzzle brake, but what do people prefer? Are there any truly "do-all" devices? I see many available items, but I haven't come across a good head-to-head comparison. Here are some of the options I've seen:
AIM Muzzle Devices Muzzle Devices AKS-045 - AK 3 Prong Flash Hider Reduces Flash and Dissipates Recoil - Manufactured by: Military AKS-015 - AK-47 Pin-On Muzzle Brake Dual Hole for Russian, Chinese - Manufactured by: New Century 49800 - TAPCO AK-74 Muzzle Brake, Black - Manufactured by: TAPCO Any guidance on what's good, what's junk, what to avoid? Thanks Dave |

The AK-74 brake does both. Shoots the flash out to the sides

I have seen the phantom flash hider on a Yugo and it seems to do very well. The J-tac the 59 dollar one on aims site does very well in reducing recoil for follow up shots, I dont know how it does for flash tho.
I have shot two from ak-103.com, one normal ak103 comp, and the long krink style also, that do very well in controling recoil but dont do much for the flash. The longer one was permanatly attached to a 12 inch barrel... so it spits fire pretty good.

I put a Tapco brake on my SKS, it reduced recoil/muzzle climb.
Messed with my accuracy. I took it off.
