Now or never?

Is it "now or never" to get an AK-47 or do you think they will still be plentiful a year from now (consider no ban)? And if so, would you bet on a large price increase?

Sorry if it has been asked.

Thanks in advance.

Well, now you can definitely still get one. In the future, I think the past shows us that it is not so certain.
I have seen posts where people are doing exactly what you appear to be contemplating.

well you might as well get one or "more" now .. before things dry-up .. or get really expensive. i am already starting to see price increase on Ak's .. so if you want 'em .. just get it already ..hehe

Currently there's a ban on importing barrels and there was a manufacturer (I forget who) who advertised a new US made barrels coming soon for their AKs.

So if the political climiate does not change the AKs will not dry up (we'll see in November). But whatever AK you get will not have its original barrel but a brand new US made barrel.

Does anyone know where I can find a parts kit? While this isn't the way I want to go, it may be my best option seeing as how I don't have the money to buy a complete rifle. Might be fun to build it when the time allows also.

ClassicArms.us has parts kits. I bought one last November thinking I was going to build one, until I figured out it is work. After I priced out the tools I would need and the cost to build, I sold my kit and bought a Yugo M70AB underfolder.

Edit:
I think it is this year or never. Most people don't understand that AK-47s can be legal. I am new to gun-ownership as of late last year. I was amazed that people at work (large software company based out of the top left of lower-4 were buying AKs. Basically, someone at work told me that if I ever thought I would want or need one, this year would be the year. My AK has gone up in price about $70 since I bought it 4 months ago. Some people locally predict the price to exceed $1000 if they are banned.

I certainly have the itch for an AK 47...

When I recover from buying the XD, I might start looking around.
